Care of Quilts

We use 100% cotton fabric. The batting is low-loft 80% cotton and 20% polyester. Cottons are available, but can easily deteriorated by acids and contact with cardboard or unfinished wood, which can become acidic. We are not responsible for issues that may arise from further finishing after a quilt is received by a customer.

Ultraviolet radiation from sunlight and fluorescent lamps can cause dyes to fade and fibers to become brittle. Quilts should be rotated to avoid this damage. High temperatures, humidity, and poor ventilation can cause mold and mildew growth. Store your quilts in a cool, dry place. Photos are directly printed onto cotton fabric using an inkjet printer and then soaked to remove excess ink. These photos can be washed, but may fade in direct sunlight.

Cleaning

Shake and air your quilts on an overcast, yet dry and breezy day, or spin using the gentle cycle of a clothes dryer without heat. Quilts can also be vacuumed to rid of dust using a nylon net over the head of a hand vacuum or regular hose attachment. Wash infrequently with cold water and mild detergent. This can be done by hand or using the gentle cycle of a clothes washer. Do not ring or twist, and move to a flat area to dry. Dry cleaning is not recommended.
